Tumbling My Personal Blog

I currently keep two separate blogs - my technology blog at brandonkonkle.com, and my personal blog here.  I do this because the people interested in my personal entries usually have no desire to sift through mountains of technical jargon and programming examples just to get the latest news about my family.  I was previously managing both blogs as custom web applications developed with the Django web framework.

Lately, however, I haven’t had enough time to maintain both sites.  Also, I’d like to get Barbara in on the blogging action and I didn’t have a lot of time to make the custom site more user-friendly.  I decided to switch our personal blogging over to Tumblr.  The site is very easy and usable, offers a great selection of themes, and allows you to use your own domain very easily.  Overall, I’m quite satisfied, and it’s one less thing for me to worry about.

I’m still keeping my tech blog as a custom Django site so that I can experiment with it, and I’m more convinced than ever that Django is by far the best web application framework out there.  Simplification soothes the mind, however, and I think this will be a good switch.

Hopefully now I’ll actually start writing personal posts…
